Went to a big Irish funeral today,so of course my old aunts and uncles made everyone bring home cheese and sandwiches as they made way to much of everything. So,that's supper. Sandwiches of the Dead!!

Just came back from Shakey's Pizzas Sunday brunch. Probably the worst all you can eat place but at least the chicken was good.

My hot air popcorn popper finally bought the farm. I decided to replace it with a traditional popper which tastes SO much better. I ordered this yesterday. I am excited.

I should get it from Amazon by next Tuesday. I'll let you know. The same design is recommended for roasting coffee, so I may end up buying another one. We had one like this when I grew up and it made awesome popcorn. I inherited it, but my girlfriend at the time broke the lid and I couldn't find a replacement.

Most of my parent's possessions were incredibly old. They took really good care of everything they owned and didn't replace anything if it could be fixed. Hand-me-downs were the norm. Style trends were entirely ignored in favor of pragmatism.

Sounds like my /my grandparents house growing up.I still have and my Nanny's old iron from the sixties, her mothers cast iron pans,a forty year old kettle...

This is similar to the popcorn popper we had when I was a kid ~ We had tons of old kitchen stuff, too. Not just pots and pans, but all manner of spatulas, gravy boats, salt sellers(sp?), etc. I'm not even sure where it all came from. I'm thinking there was a time when giving a gift to a female that a kitchen item was just the default thing, so that stuff just accumulated.
